NEW LECTURER’S FORUM

Post-COVID we saw a significant increase in the number of mental health nursing students, and consequently, we also saw a significant increase in the number of people becoming mental health nursing lecturers for the first time.  It became apparent to the more experienced members of MHNAUK that these people who were new to the mental health nurse academia may benefit from some informal peer support.  Therefore, a new lecturer group was set up.  We meet every other month, usually on a Thursday at 1 pm, and hold facilitated group discussions about the issues faced by those new to the role.  Although the groups are facilitated by Jayne Hayes (UWE) and Chris Wagstaff (UoB), other experienced mental health nurse academics frequently attend the groups to lend their perspectives to the group discussion. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings, whether new to university lecturing, or experienced in these roles, or just interested in the topic.

A collection of resources that new mental health nurse lecturers may find useful can be found here.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

The next meeting is Friday 20th July at 1pm.
